Brief Introduction

Index Universe

1. SSE 180 Index: All A shares listed at Shanghai Stock Exchange excluding stocks that are:

    1) IPOs within the last 3 months (unless the daily average negotiable market capitalization of a stock is ranked top 18 in Shanghai Market).

    2) Suspended from listing.

    3) Experiencing materially abnormal events in operation or management, or severe losses in the latest financial statements.

    4) Experiencing large price volatility that shows strong evidence of being manipulated.

    5) Considered by the Advisory Committee as inappropriate.

2. SSE 50 Index: Constituents of SSE 180 Index.

3. SSE Dividend Index: A shares listed at Shanghai Stock Exchange that meet the following requirements:

    1) Continuously paid dividend in the past two years and the cash dividend yield (after tax) each year is higher than 0

    2) Daily average negotiable market cap in the past one year is ranked top 50% of Shanghai A shares.

    3) Daily average trading value in the past one year is ranked top 50% of Shanghai A shares.

4. The SSE180 Financial index is comprised of banks, insurance companies, securities companies, trusts, etc from the SSE180 index.

    1) Index Universe: Constituents of SSE180.

    2) Selection Method: Banks, insurance companies, securities companies, trusts, etc from the index universe compose the constituents.

    3) Constituents Adjustment: The constituent of SSE180 Financial index is adjusted in accordance with the constituent adjustment of the SSE180 index. If the industry classification of the constituent of SSE180 changes duo to particular event, the SSE180 Financial index will adjust its constituent accordingly.

5. SSE 180 Corporate Governance Index constituents of the SSE180 index and the SSE Corporate Governance index. It follows the next two steps to select constituents:

    1) Calculate overall ranking of each stock in the universe based on constituents selection, method of SSE180 index.

    2) Select top 100 ranked constituents in the intersection of the SSE180 index and the SSE Corporate Governance index to compose the SSE 180 Corporate Governance Index. If the number of the intersection stocks is less than 100, the vacancy will be filled by the highest ranking non- intersections in the SSE Corporate Governance index.

6. All stocks from the SSE Corporate Governance board compose the constituents of the SSE Corporate Governance index.

    1) Periodical Review: Companies on the SSE Governance board will be re-selected each year in May and June. CSI will then adjust constituents of this index accordingly in early July.

    2) Temporary Adjustment: If a constituent on the SSE Corporate Governance board no longer meets the criteria of the board duo to particular event, it will be excluded from the Corporate Governance board as soon as practicable. The SSE Corporate Governance index will be adjusted accordingly.

7. All the A shares listed at the SSE compose the constituents of the SSE Medium Enterprise Composite Index.

    1) The classification of Medium Enterprise: With reference to commonly used classification method of enterprises in the national economy and considering the size characteristics of listed companies in China, the stocks in the universe are classified to three classes according to total shares, total assets and operating revenue.

      Note 1:Enterprises satisfying the three lower limits simultaneously can be classified as large or medium enterprises.
      Note 2:The par value of all stocks is converted to 1 Yuan for calculation.
      Note 3:Total shares including both domestic and overseas listed share.

    2) Constituents Selection: All the listed companies classified as medium enterprises compose the SSE Medium Enterprise Composite Index.

    3) Constituents Adjustment: CSI reviews the classification of constituents each year in May based on the latest annual report and adjusts the constituents of SSE Medium Enterprise Composite Index annually based on the latest classification results. Ongoing adjustments can be made when necessary.

    4) Medium Enterprises Classification Standard Adjustment: The medium enterprises classification standard is reviewed annually and adjustment is made when necessary.
8. SSE New Composite Index: Constituents for SSE New Composite Index are listed stocks at Shanghai Stock Exchange that have completed Split-share Reform.

9. SSE Composite Index: Constituents for SSE Composite Index are all listed stocks (A shares and B shares) at Shanghai Stock Exchange.

10. SSE A Share Index: Constituents for SSE A Share Index are all listed A shares at Shanghai Stock Exchange.

11. SSE B Share Index : Constituents for SSE B Share Index are all listed B shares at Shanghai Stock Exchange.

12. Sector Indices: Listed companies are divided into 5 sectors: Industrial, Commercial, Real Estate, Utilities, and Conglomerate. Constituents for a sector index are all listed stocks (both A and B shares) of that sector.

13. SSE Fund Index: Constituents for SSE Fund Index are all security investment funds listed at Shanghai Stock Exchange.

14. SSE Government Bond Index: All government bonds listed at Shanghai Stock Exchange.

15. SSE Corporate Bond Index: All none equity-linked corporate bonds listed at Shanghai Stock Exchange.
